Coronavirus Precautions at the Camps

To Schools, Campers and Families,

Here at College Settlement, the safety and health of campers and staff is always our highest priority. We have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. As a result, we have taken precautionary measures to supplement our already high standards of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

We have reviewed and updated our sanitizing procedures, and we will be utilizing a disinfectant solution suggested by the EPA for use against novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19.

We will reinforce good hygiene practices like thorough hand washing. We will provide additional opportunities for campers and staff to wash their hands during our programs. All cabins will have a bottle of hand sanitizer in them, and we will recommend that student sleep head to tail instead of all heads the same way on bunk beds. This is standard camp protocol as it lessens sharing the same “sneeze zone.”

We will not permit drinking directly from water fountains but will be providing coolers with water next to fountains and encouraging those attending our programs to bring reusable water bottles clearly marked with their names.

Families and schools are encouraged not to send children or staff members exhibiting any symptoms of illness to our program. If anyone attending our program begins to exhibit symptoms of illness such as sneezing, coughing, or fever, we will alert the school teachers on the trip and they can follow their school health policy regarding children exhibiting illness in a school setting.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as appropriate. We look forward to providing the safest environment possible while allowing campers to engage in the fun activities offered.

Sincerely,
Terry Dougherty
Executive Director
